Speaking from the perspective of a mother who also gave up her daughter for adoption during the Vietnam War, I will never get over the painful experience of placing my baby into the hands of others! I was a college student, who had fallen for a soldier who did not have the strength of character to stand up for me when I got pregnant, and I did not want my beautiful little girl to be tainted by my actions. She has since come back into my life and we have a sweet albeit distant relationship. Totally understandable; I’m just grateful to have her back!

Despite the circumstances of your birth, I feel a birth mother never forgets you, and feels incomplete until you are reconnected! Thank you for sharing your beautiful albeit painful story!

Carol, thank you, also, for reading, and for your touching words. I believe you are right. Mother and child are eternally connected.

Mary Ellen, this just brought me to tears. I’ve said it before and I say it again. No one writes about adoption better than you! No one! 😊❤️
